We saw Vortex Tribe in the Bruce Mason Centre Takapuna on a Monday night. No question about the virtuosity of the guitarist, Jon Mulvey. Is there a better guitarist in New Zealand? A broad range of styles. The flautist was a great counter to the guitarist. Nice opening set with flute and nylon string guitar. Then the "metal/rock" set with some formidable shredding, big drums and sharp bass rhythm. The sound was below par and needs sorting. It didn't do the players justice, especially the bass. But overall deserved a full house at The Bruce Mason.
