Te Papa Tongarewa (the Museum of New Zealand) is a bold and vibrant museum which is an interactive and visitor focused experience. Entry is free, although some charges may apply to specific exhibitions or activities.

There are a number of tours on offer and an exciting range of exhibitions displaying New Zealand's diverse art and visual culture. Te Papa also features free events, entertainment, performances, floortalks, lectures and even kids activities among the many things on offer.

Another dynamic cultural presence in the capital is the City Gallery Wellington. Established in 1980, the Gallery was the first significant non-collecting public gallery in New Zealand. Achieving a reputation for innovation and style and inspiring and challenging its audiences with an ever changing, world class programme of exhibitions and arts related projects.
