The Old Quarter is my current favourite Wellington restaurant. You absolutely have to order a salt and pepper soft shell crab Bao Bun! Delicious. The menu is designed to share so I got to try a variety of items when dining here with friends: the tofu bao bun was a let-down compared to the crab one, the pancake messy but nice, the salt and pepper squid came out a little dry. The banana leaf Salmon took much longer to arrive due to it's cooking time by which point we were all stuffed - I had it cold with salad for lunch the following day and it was beautifully spiced. By eating in you can also enjoy The Old Quarter's cocktails, of which The Blushing Dragon was my favourite, however it was a busy night and we felt the waiting staff avoided our eye contact when we wanted more water, food or drinks. I have since discovered UberEats delivers Bao Buns to your door at a very reasonable price.
