While One Red Dog is always going to remind me of school netball break-up dinners, on a perfect Wellington Summer day a few glasses of wine and a couple of One Red Dog pizzas outside in the sun is a great way to spend the afternoon. I can highly recommend the Shawshank, See Food, Beef & Bearnaise and The Blues.

I've been to One Red Dog twice. I reckon if you do visit, just stick to the pizzas. It's the safest choice. Not sure if they can do anything else well.

The food is nothing to shout about. I wouldn't pick this restaurant if I had the choice.

The waitress was really promoting their new winter salad. It sounded delicious, except it wasn't. I think they should have marketed it as spinach salad with a sprinkling of roast veges instead of roasted vege with spinach. It was somehow really oily and made me feel sick. The other disaster of the night was their mushroom soup. I suppose one shouldn't complain when given more ingredients. But the thick puree of mushrooms did almost put me off mushrooms. Again, perhaps they should have marketed it as mushroom puree instead of a soup.

Couldn't fault the service. No problems with it. Just the food... I thoroughly did not enjoy my dinner unfortunately.

Caught up with a good mate today at One Red Dog on Queens Wharf. Not a lot of options open in downtown Wellington because of the public holiday but the restaurant certainly doing a roaring trade.
I went for the Tuatara Pilsner and the Zorba the Greek pizza - both were exceptional - but the pricing is extortionate (even without the 15% surcharge)...the 2 medium pizzas, 2 beers and a plate of fries came to $70 odd bucks (excluding the surcharge)...it is only pizza after all...
