If Maranui was busy before Harry and Megan visited, it's only got much busier now. A friend and I popped in on our way home from the airport on a beautiful Saturday morning and had to wait around 10 minutes for a table and then 40 minutes for our food shortly after 9am. By the time we left however the queue was out the door and right down the stairs. The food is worth it however, this time my friend had crumpets which were sweet and delicious and I had the tofu scramble which was lovely however not a large portion and the toast with avocado seemed overcooked and dry. It was also a novelty having Rice Milk in my flat white!
Absolutely loved the vibe of this place and was lucky enough to get a window seat looking out onto the beach. Great service from the waitress that I had and didn't have to wait long for service. Food was absolutely delicious and good portion for the amount I paid. Just wanted to give a big shout out to the place, keep it up and I'll keep on coming back for more. Cheers
On a sunny day the views at Maranui Cafe are stunning and if you can get a table out on the deck you're extremely lucky. Super busy with great staff and a range of cabinet food as well as menu items. I enjoyed the pancakes with poached fruit, yogurt and syrup on my last visit as well as freshly squeezed juice. There are some interesting pieces of art on the walls and an old kids coin operated ride near one window which also seemed popular for entertainment whilst waiting for your order to arrive.
One of best cafes in Wellington with some of the best views too. If you can get in. Queues are often long at the weekends, so get in early. After 11am you're almost guaranteed to be waiting. The staff are fantastic though and will give you good estimates of how long a wait for a table will be, and how long food is taking after that. The food is cooked to order and amazing. We have often watched dolphins playing in the surf while we sip a smooth Havana coffee.
Tradesman's Tuesday is a bargain deal, offering a big breakfast and a coffee for $16.
It is well worth the wait.
