Jed Coleman here, one of the people behind the new Hummingbird. A lot of things have changed at Hummingbird and I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your brunch with us. If you come in again, please make yourself known to me and I'll shout you a drink or something to eat.

The renovations are complete here. When we were renovating, we found original tiles and brick from when the site was a butcher's shop many decades ago. We like those heritage features and so have incorporated them into our design. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "Soho Chic meets Hutt Valley sleep out", but we're pleased with the way the place looks.

We're open for dinner, cocktails and tapas every day from 3pm, and we open for weekend brunch/lunch from 9am. Our brunch/lunch menu has about 15 dishes on it (that includes brunch and lunch items). We think that's enough as we're aiming for quality. And no, we don't serve fries, but in the evenings we do serve our own version of fries, which arecrispy fried potatoes with paprika salt and aioli. They're delicious.
