As a staple on the Wellington waterfront and somewhere I had lunched previously, I thought Chicago would be a good choice for a Saturday lunch with family. This couldn't have been further from the truth.

Things started off well, we were greeted and shown to a table quickly. We placed our orders and drinks arrived shortly after. This is where things took a turn for the worse. An hour later and we were still waiting for our 4 mains. I asked the waiter if our food would be ready soon and he went to check and said yes it would be coming shortly. 20 min later I walked up to the bar where our waiter was now serving drinks and said "you said our meals would be ready soon 20min ago, what's the deal?"

5min later our meals arrived. I had ordered the beef and bacon burge. It was supposed to come with onion rings in the burger but to my surprise, the chef had substituted them with a chip that he broke into 3 pieces and placed in the burger. I told our waiter, who then disappeared out back and then appeared with a separate plate with 2 onion rings on it. So they weren't even out of onion rings! On top of that, the beef patty had been peppered to within an inch of it's life and there was less than half a teaspoon of the BBQ sauce in the burger. The whole affair was dry and inedible. The other 3 mains didn't suffer quite as badly but were of a poor quality.

I'm not generally one to complain but when it came time to pay I flat out stated that I would not be paying for my nearly untouched meal which was met with no resistance and the duty manager gave us a discount on the rest. I was advised that they have a new chef and he's "not working out very well" and that we were not the only ones to complain that day.
All in all, thoroughly disappointing.

My advice to Chicago is that if you have a cook who's not working out, stay closed. You'll lose much less customers.
My advice to diners, stay clear until you hear otherwise.
