Basque Information

'Basque' is based on the eating and drinking style of Northern Spain - San Sebastian in particular - with its streets of tapas bars, where you can pop in and try a few pintxos (pronounced pinchos) washed down with a glass of txakoli (the local slightly fizzy wine) or sangria. We also have a full menu, and a great range of Spanish craft beers to sample, along with our favourite NZ beers on tap such as Tuatara, ParrotDog, Panhead, Moa, Mikes & Hallertau. Cider also features widely, with Zeffer on tap and a solid range including Spanish ciders in the fridge.

Basque is an excellent bar/restaurant. Very accommodating and the staff are amazing, friendly and attentive. The food is great, very reminiscent of actual Spanish tapas. The atmosphere is happy and festive. They have solved the cold/wind issue by closing off the front of the restaurant to the elements. The rooftop bar is a great place to hang out and have a drink and a few nibbles in summer. A great go to in Wellington!

Basque is a nice little place with some very good food! Lots of drinks on offer, pleasant interior, fast and professional service. Also offers a rooftop space but have not been there in the right weather for it yet! Wellington, eh?:-)
Only giving it 4 stars as it is a bit too popular for my liking - I prefer quieter places. This one's buzzing especially during evenings and it would probably be hard to get a table here without pre-booking. But for some this would just mean it's a great place. Well worth a go or a few!

Basque feels like a tapas bar in Spain - I loved the small items on the counter, the sangria (available by the glass), the Patatas Bravas and the Pescado Frito which we ordered from the menu. It was a bit cold inside the venue though - the bar is open to Courtenay Place at the front and the cold air certainly blew through.
