I agree with Matthew Turner's star rating, not a movie to uplift your spirit after a long day in the office. The actors are quite a mix of very ordinary and odd looking people, their roles were very ordinary, the characters were very dull and their relationship to each other was confusing.
Pienkie, the "wannabe mob-leader's" behaviour/the acting was a bit too dramatic, I just couldn't understand his character.
Rose's life was just tragic. I think the first time I felt some emotion in the movie was at the end - it was more a sigh relief actually, when the camera is focused on the Holy Cross on the wall and Rose who is now heavily pregnant, homeless and a widow, does not hear the full, cruel message her unloving husband recorded for her on their wedding day.
A truly depressing movie.
